Dream Factory/Bruce Masopust Visit

Somerville Moose Lodge #2206 is Honored with a Visit by The Moose International Board of Directors Chairman, Bruce Masopust, for The Dream Factory Charity Fundraiser Presentation.

Our very own Somerville Moose Lodge #2206 has been up to some amazing things and it has not gone unnoticed! Every year Somerville Moose Lodge selects a charity or cause that we can help support during the annual Bull Moose BBQ. And for the second year we chose The Dream Factory. The Dream Factory is the largest all-volunteer driven children's wish-granting organization that does not limit its mission to children who have life-threatening illness. The organization believes children with chronic illnesses and disorders also suffer from substantial emotional and physical pain.

The 11th Annual Bull Moose BBQ benefit held on April 14th and 15th raised money through a poker run, the Bull Moose KCBS BBQ competition, a spaghetti dinner provided by The Woman of the Moose #2090, raffles, and lots of other fun activities. The Bull Moose BBQ benefit provides members and friends an opportunity to get together and enjoy a great time while helping our community!

This year, Somerville Moose Lodge #2206 welcomed Bruce Masopust, The Moose International Board of Directors Chairman, on May 4th!  Chairman Masopust was joined by Mooseheart Board Member Daniel Humphreys of Erwin, TN and Pat Rogers, Territory Manager for TN, KY and AR Moose. Somerville Moose Lodge was honored to welcome such important visitors!

Chairman Bruce Masopust, along with Lodge officers and Chapter members, presented our donations to The Dream Factory for a very special child, Mattie. We were honored to show our appreciation to our community by being able to support such a worthy organization. Members and special guests enjoyed a delicious chicken dinner and tasty dessert provided by Women of the Moose Chapter #2090. The dinner was the perfect opportunity for everyone to meet and get to know this sweet girl Mattie, her family, The Dream Factory members and our senior officers of Moose International, many of us have never met. It was fantastic knowing that we are all like family and working on the same goals. We had a chance to share experiences, stories and future ideas.

After dinner and the social gathering we all met for the presentation of donations. The donations to the The Dream Factory for Mattie, totaled $2,028. Mattie and The Dream Factory in turn surprised the Lodge with a plaque showing their gratitude. This very sweet and eloquent little girl stole our hearts. Mattie spoke about the fun they had and how deeply grateful she was. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house and it was a reaffirmation of the reason the Moose do what we do!

The Moose, with headquarters in Mooseheart, Illinois, has an increasing number of members, at approximately one million in over 1,500 communities across all 50 states and 4 Canadian provinces, plus Great Brittan. The Moose is about celebrating life together, serving those in need within our local community, supporting our children at Mooseheart and standing by our senior members at Moosehaven.
